yet, another which 35mm lens...

As well as my CV 35/1.4 I also have a Summicron-C 40/2. The 40 is not really a substitute for a 35 in my view - it has a noticeably tighter angle of view.

The "40mm with 35mm frame" thing is really just that a lot of people find it easier to frame a bit tighter than a 35mm frame than a bit wider than a 50mm frame. It's certainly what I find, and my 40mm is filed to show the 35mm frames on my Leica Ms.

The accuracy of framelines in different cameras varies - some are tighter, some more generous, and I have no idea of the frames on the ZM. To find out how close the 35mm frame is to a 40mm view you really need to do some testing - do some shots with obvious markers at the edges of the frames and see what actually appears in the shot. Once you've done that, you'll be able to make a decision on whether the 40mm lens with the 35mm frame suit your shooting.

The 40 S-C is a wonderful lens though - I got a Bessa R3A specifically for use with it.

How long do you keep cameras/lenses before swithcing? Frankly it takes me a looong time before I disgard a lens/camera combination, in fact, I never really have! I would advise that time spent analyzing your technique and learning photography would be better spent than worrying about lenses, but thats just me I guess.
I in terms of 35mm, I just sold after having the lens for almost 20 years a 35mm Summicron RF lens which was about as sharp as the 35mm Lux ASPH I replaced it with. Purchase a 35mm Summicron of just about any vintage and you really won't have to sorry about anything. Purchase either 35mm ASPH and you will have one of the best lenses ever made.-Dick

Biogon f2. Handles exactly like the planar; same size, same fingerprint and all round great performer. It will also match your planar for contrast, which might be important to you.

Hello,

I bought my Cron-c 2 years ago and used it as a 35mm with the M6. I just bought a biogon and find it very good (contrasty but not too much and sharp as hell) but you have to know it's really huge and you won't be able to take it under your coat like you're maybe used to with the 40. Different uses. Taking the camera on a daily basis ? Cron. Hangin out in order to take a lot of photos ? Biogon. That's how it works for me, and it works fine ! Good luck

Both focused at oo. Sorry for the poor picture, hope it helps.
