So November is rolling around and that means my girlfriend will be turning 29. I would like to give her a nice photo print for her birthday but I don't know which way to go with these images. We took a trip to Yosemite for my birthday in February and I thought one of these would make a fantastic print for her birthday / new apartment.

The color image looks great, but something about the black and white keeps pulling me back to it. I was thinking about getting back into the dark room and making a nice 11x14 print for her.

I am totally open to suggestions on this one IE, treatment , toning, you're crazy, etc.

Any comments / critiques would be really welcome.

Both are good shots. Tunnel view is tried and true, but your b&w is really nice (the trees really stand out) and unusual. I'd go w/ the b&w.

The first is nice, but my wanders over it with out finding a focus.

The second one has nice colors and my eye travels down the valley switching left and right taking in the peaks. I'd go with #2.

The second one. Though shoot slides and get an ilfochrome made next time, they look amazing! Then take her someplace she'd like to go for her birthday, fair is fair.

The first one. Do a darkroom silver print if you can. Burn in the top of the sky a bit, to bring the focus back down toward the trees.

#1 has great tones, but the wide angle pointed upwards makes me feel dizzy.

#2 I like the depth of this image. I would hang this on my wall anytime.

You are your art. What do you want to express about yourself and your relationship to your girlfriend?
1. I am not perfect, I may be a little off balance, but I am unique and interesting.
2. I am competent, picture perfect, but a little bit predictable.

I would go for 1, but I don't know your girlfriend.

@brian that's the idea. Somewhere north of SF.

@everyone else: thank you so much for your input. I'm going to go with the black and white. It feels... Better? I can't explain it but I feel like she would like it better.

Hi Kevin , have you tried tunnel view in B&W - those high clouds would look great if you gave it the Ansel Adams treatment.

A little bit of perspective correction could be worthwhile if you go for the first one.

Donald, I have an alternate view in B&W but it doesn't look so hot... Maybe I should play around with it in Silver Efex....

Well, actually it's depend on what color of the wall.
Both are amazing pictures, but for apartmen interior I prefer the BW.

Don't forget to choose match frame design for this picture ...you can choose between black or white frame.Give white space between edge of picture to frame.....:)

Here, what I found from google:

Good luck,
