Why? If you look through what I wrote you will not find me in any way talking down the Tibetan people. This was about making better photo's, but some people had to make it about politics...people cannot keep on topic about things...

You don't want the thread to be political and yet you say THIS? That is about as political a comment as anyone could make but you may be too naive to grasp that. This is a condescending comment, and you're not even aware of it!

Your comment echoes the centuries old language used by "enlightened" colonizers and imperialists everywhere. Ah yes, the "noble savage" the "simple code", the "primitive splendour". Ah yes, the natives, so warm and friendly in their simple ignorance.... Just go to any library and you'll find thousands of old history books with this sort of language.

Do you support imperialist and colonialist attitudes? I doubt it very much. I just think you are naive, but you should be aware of the implications of your words.
 
You are thinking too far into what I said. Believe me its not my intent to say anything bad about them at all. If it is construed that is what I meant, it most certainly is not.
 
I just love how defending a cause often turns into fashion.
Lots of ignorance on the real issue, completely one sided opinion based on a few minutes on television and a fair amount of self-confidence that you are better than the horrible oppressors of the moments. Of course the poor oppressed people can turn out to be crazy wacko's a decade after.
Conflicts are often a bit more complex than what it seems at first glance.

I dont think it is Avotius who is talking. Some guys in great Firewall are fiddling in their language by censoring.

I dont think texts for the photo is necessary. It shows it is protest. Thats all. It is nice photo, NH3. Photography can live without journalism and silly descriptions anyway.

Look at Robert Frank interview. Eye opening.
 
Interesting photo nh just like others in the thread I think it would be good to see the whole poster/board the boy is holding.
 
Avotius, no doubt you have more first-hand experience related to the topic, and black-and-white moralism from 12 time-zones away seems misguided. However, the innernet is not a good place for subtleties....

If he was born in Canada, he is automatically a Canadian. He is not Tibetan as your post directly states.

Maybe he could be considered a Tibetan-Canadian... but definitely not "A Tibetan Boy."

Sure Sure, Most of us in the rest of the world consider native hawaiian and american are as a distinct culture and a sovereign nation occupied by USA. But the worst aspect of this occupation is the destruction of the native's culture and heritage while populating white, black and asian with ethnic people to totally assimilate and destroy the native's culture. Your photo have political statement which most chinese people do not like or accept. We had enough this kind of bully bull**** from western politicians and bias jurnolists like you. this thread should be removed.

Remember, this was all started by a PHOTO. Much more interesting than those threads about which lens, at least IMO.

off topic, if there is such a thing anymore, is Cuchilandia in Connecticut? Thats all I can seem to find about a location I have never heard of.

I didn't detect any hostility toward the Chinese people. Only the Fascist Chinese government.

The 2 should not be equated. I certainly wouldn't want to be judged by the actions of the current U.S. government....

I was referring to his talk about ethnic Han Chinese, which is the major make up of Chinese in this country. They have spread all around the country, kind of like how white people spread around America, many looking for opportunities and such.

ps. I should have been more clear about that, my bad. I would not want to be connected to the actions of the american government either, though its hard because many people do not make that distinction of people and government.

Do Majority Chinese people dislike or call their govement FASCIST? come on get life, Can you find another party lead China now? the approval rate of the chinese president Hu Jiangtao is much better than JW Bush.

I don't know if they consider their government Fascist or not. I doubt it. When it's the only government you've known for 80 years, you get used to it. It's more open than it used to be, so it probably seems progressive to many of them.

I call it Fascist.

That's a bit far fetch, among other factors, current administration is "democratically" elected, by you, me and majority of stupid citizens. they are your representation, so trying to disassociate who you voted is disingenuous. If you didn't vote for current one, that you are not trying hard enough to bring down down in 04. Therefore everything goes in circles.

What can you do to unseat the politicians once you know they did wrong things? nothing. We are educated and brought up under such system so we never dream to overthrow our own government.

But so long as you are not a mentally challenged self-absorb snob like fox anchors, i will find you likable -:)

let's remember this is a photo forum and this discussion, started by a photo has long since stopped being about that photo.
