Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 for usual shooting. 35mm f1.2 V1 for special occasions.

Summicron 50/2 for usual shooting, Zeiss C Sonnar 50/1.5 for when I want that 'artistic look'.

While I own slower lenses in other focal lengths, I always think that you might as well use as fast a lens as you can comfortably carry, as it just gives you that extra versatility.
 
I just counted. As close as I can come (counting two systems, one Leica, one Nikon), I think I have ten 50s (many of them bought cheap, just because) and two 35s. The 35s get almost no use. For years I didn't even own one and when I have one on the camera, which I do once in a while just for inspiration, I don't seem to find anything to shoot. The 50s that get the most use are a 50/1.4AI Nikon and a collapsible Summicron, with the 1.1 Noctilander in runner up position. If I had to choose a pair, it would be 50/28 (Leica) or 50/24 (Nikon), not 50/35. The 24/2.8 Nikkor is one of my favorite lenses.

The usual lenses in my Leica kit: 35mm f2.5 Nikkor LTM with adapter, 50 mm Dual Range Summicron (version unknown), and 105mm f2.5 Nikkor LTM with adapter. I'd like to carry my 25mm f4 Nikkor LTM with adapter also; it won't take many pictures sitting at home!

I like them both. Because I like to go out with only one lens on the camera it happens that...when I have the 50 I think "Ohh, if I had the 35" but when I have the 35 Ifind myself thinking "Ohh, if I had the 50"

I saw this thread again this morning and it made me chuckle. It seems that every time I get any new camera, I find myself acquiring fast 35 and 50 lenses for it if I don't already have them. For instance, I have been enjoying the F6 and had the Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AI-S already ... I felt compelled to buy a Nikon 35mm f/2 AF-D for it almost immediately. I decided to get the D750 and have a native digital body for the Nikon lenses I was enjoying so much, so it arrived and within a day I ordered the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S lens for it.

Seems an obsession, but I can almost guarantee that these two lenses will be used more than any of my other excellent focal lengths on the F6 and D750. They're fast, light, compact, and very nice performers... and not too expensive either.

I hardly ever use a 35, so I have what I have, only one, f/2; however, I have actually spent real money on fast 50s, because I use them, so I'm heavy on 50s, including a 1.4 and 1.1.
