Your favorite camera this year

The reigning champion, the R-D1 got a run for its money this year. And indeed I must declare it lost out to the new kid on the block, the Kowa Super 66. Its more fun, not just the camera and its lenses, but the feeling of accomplishment when the film comes out of the fixer, can't be beaten.

these two made it, the brass S has been always with me every time I go out....

😱 Still gathering guts to go shoot it...

I've cleaned up the film holders you sent me and have a box of film. Until now I've always used the (tiny) cellar and one shelf there to (un)load 120 and 135 film. Now I need to blind the bathroom door window and rig up some working space over the washing bowls there so I can load the film holders.

Next week is holidays but already filled with lotsa small chores, next holiday is February 21st to 27th. Still in time for the nice season, I reckon!

Sure looking forward to seeing your results with that camera. The large negative is awesome. I think you will find it easy and fun to use.

Stupidly enough, I have many more cameras than there are posts in this thread. I managed to pick 7 more cameras just in the last 24 hours, even a busy work schedule and the holidays can slow me down. But of all the cameras I own, my favorite remains my M4. I love it even more now with it's recent conversion to black paint, and of course i had find a black Summilux of the same vintage for it to wear.

Runner up is my M6ttl, or a Canon 7 with the big 50/.095... But I don't leave home without the M4

1) Linhof Technika IV: It was the biggest (positive) surprise 🙂

2) Leica IIIf: It works and works and works ... 🙂

3) Rolleiflex 3.5E: Just came back from service and became a joy to use again.

Well, for some reason or other (shelving my unsatisfying Contax IIIa did help, and so did the need to travel lighter with a newborn) I reverted to old loves: By number of keepers the Kiev 4 and Makina 67 positively were my most successful rangefinders this year, by far.

It has to be my M2 which I bought at exactly this time last Christmas. I had to sell my Bessa R3A, and two Leica IIIf's to fund it (and a new Heliar 50 f2), but have not looked back. It is an absolute joy to use.......

Hard to tell. As a matter of fact, this year has been the year of my return to film. Looking at what I have now, the camera I like most shooting with is neck-to-neck the Olympus OM4 with 85/2 lens and the barnack Leica IIIc. But! Looking at the negatives, I like most the negs from my battered Rolleiflex, closely followed by the Oly XA which I foolishly sold.
But (a second one!) I've recently purchased my first LF camera, a Sinar monorail, and therefore it is "now for something completely different".

Here's another one for the M8, my most-used camera again this past year. I'm uneasy, though, to see my film aging in the fridge, so I've resolved to use some of it this coming year. The 120 and 220 anyway...

Digital - still my Canon 5D. Even though I've got the latest and greatest Canon digital uber Cameras, the images from the old 5D still amaze me.

Medium Format - Bronica ETRsi. Amazingly light for its size, tricked out with the manual winder, handles just like a big 35mm. Great images.

35mm - Despite the many 35mm cameras I have, the Leica IIIC/F conversion continues to be my favorite. Always in the bag with a 50 of some kind mounted, just a sweet camera.

Fun Factor: 4x5 Busch Pressman D. Compact 4x5 folder with that lovely 4x5 tonality.

I've been shooting a lot of digital with my Pentax K200D... I got into film and developing b&w this spring with a Pentax MX - but the most fun I've had has been getting into rangefinders with my Canon P. Still mess up the developing sometimes and I haven't got a scanner yet, but I looove it! 🙂
