Your favorite Cult/Posh Point 'n Shoot?

I love using my Ricoh Gr1v - a very useful size to carry about. Great lens and v accurate exposure system. The SNAP shooting function allows for almost no shutter lag and real point-n-shoot immediacy.

If I don't have this I carry a Voigtländer Perkeo II - Using sunny 16 and zone focusing = top quality 6x6 point n shot pics! Only good during the day though!!

They have a Bell & Howell Canonet 28 at the local St. Vinnies. Been there awhile, but they just don't seem to want to lower the price from where they have it now. Heck, the funny part is I bought a _Black_ QL17 there for half of what they want for the 28...

It does look decent; since my biggest problem with the 17 is that it's too small for my tastes, the 28 would be nice.

WHen it comes to take anywere P&S I always thought that the smaller the better.

That's my problem. I want a camera that is so small that I can slip it in my pocket, but that is large and heavy enough to be stable when taking pictures. The QL17 is a bit to large to easely fit in my pockets, but the Olympus trip 35 (or even worse, the Kiev 35) are to small and light. I think I'll have to add a requirement when buying clothes: large pockets.

Wim, how about an Oly 35 RC or Contax T2/3? T3 is pretty small though. And I expect an XA is too small AND too light.

My favorite is the Olympus stylus epic but I wouldnt call it posh and the only reason its my fav is because of the price ...i got a mint one in the box never used for 30 bucks...lucky i think.

My favorite posh point and shoot is the Contax T2 but its more pricey....awsome lens though!

The Oly 35 RC looks interesting. I might try it one day. The Contax T2/T3 looks good, but a bit expensive for a carry-everywhere camera.

another good value P&S is the Nikon L35 ( One Touch ) with a 5 element 35/3.8 lens

The contax T has a lot of attractive features for a super stealth camera like rangefinder focusing and manual advance lever, but the ISO limited to 1000 and the absence of built in flash are pretty serious limitations imho.
However the most serious limitation is that I can't affort it. 🙁

Interesting that nobody has mentioned the Canonet QL17. I have recently been roped in by one. Small, RF, auto exposure when you want, manual when you want.

My go-everywhere P&S camera is an Olympus Stylus Zoom, but for a couple afternoons the past week the QL17 GIII was with me instead. It's noticibly heavier in the purse (some friends of mine do call my purse the "overnight bag") and more bulky, but still tolerable.

I wouldn't call either one of them posh. 🙂

I think I own just about every single "posh" p&s camera, cuz I collect more than I shoot. But I have run at least 3-4 rolls through each camera (at the very least). My fav?

Probably the Ricoh GR1v. Its profile and overall small size lets it fit so easily in just about any pocket...the lens is a pretty good lens...I like the 28mm wideangle view...I absolutely love the SNAP mode (zero lag shooting rawks)...autobracketing is nice (though I've never used it cuz I never shoot slides)...manual ISO setting is nice...can accomodate lens hood or filters...I like how the LCD panel illuminates blue so it can be seen even it darkness...I like how it feels, it feel sturdy...

Really handy camera....

Cult, though not really posh, that would be a Minox 35. Andy Warhol used one, I used one, what more is there to say?

A few years back i had a kind of posh little Fuji Super Mini DL. It was very small, had a sharp 28/2.8 and manual focus possibilities (with small awkward buttons). Suddenly it began to overexpose severely about 10% of the pictures. I think I will give it to my 2-year old daughter. I bought a Ricoh GR1s as a replacement and like it a lot, even if You have to be careful with the auto-focus. Another cult sleeper is the Minolta AF-C, a true point and shoot but free from motor wind and lens wheezing. Bought one in 1987 that worked until i dropped it in -92, got a new one that worked for four years and found a third one for $20 a year ago. The 35/2.8 lens is super sharp, the auto focus quick and quiet. No exposure control except ASA-settings though. Looks cheap but feels good. Recommended!

My favourite is a Minox 35GT. After I got this s/h in London, the SLR rarely got taken anywhere.

Small (don't think they could have made it smaller), excellent lens, excellent low light shooter and very unobtrusive.

I wish they made a 6x6 (or even 6x4.5) version!

My first thought is the Hexar AF. Perhaps the second too...
But then comes up the Rollei 35QZ.
Definitely not small, not fits in pockets.
Otherwise I find it one of the most beutiful cam and very useable.
Did you know that its peak speed is 1/8000?
With it's flash attached....

I own but don't have an Olympus Stylus Epic--I made the mistake of letting Mom "borrow" it and it's now "hers" 🙄 I like it a lot.
I would like to find a Pentax UC-1 in decent shape.
I'd like to be able to afford any of these: Nikon 35ti, 28ti, Minolta TC-1, Robot star 36(not a point and shoot but in that size range), Contax T, one of those 16mm "classic" cameras(Minox-I think-made mini versions of a couple of Leicas, a Contax, a Hasslebled, and a Rollei-flex). OK, I'd like to have all of those. 🙄

I take my Leica Minilux everywhere with me.

If it was stolen tomorrow I'd likely look at a decent Olympus Mju, non-zoom, about 35mm lens, if they make such a camera.
