So, who are some of your favorite photographers, photographers you admire, or aspire to be like?

Share their name(s)...
and link to more information if you have one...

and why you like their work and style.

David Hamilton. He's the only photographer that I ever heard of that would take sandpaper to the front element of his lenses, but he got some beautiful photographs! He understood the concept of lenses being tools, and you need to use the proper tool for the job at hand. I you can't buy one off the shelf you modify what you can get.

I'm enjoying looking at the links some of you have provided... keep 'm coming.

And I really DIG Blake Andrews... great photos and great website!

So many...

Adore: Steichen, Weston in his pictorialist phase (when he was sleeping with Mather), Demachy, photogenics of Lotte Jacobi.

Scared of: Avedon (completely untouchable), Karsh, and Arnold Newman.

Wish I could be: Ralph Gibson, and hey, Bryan Adams (who I believe also once played guitar).

I second DH, but kind of a guilty, guilty, pleasure...
