Your Favorite Photographer?

I generally like a lot of the old Life photographers. Some are obvious but some are less known:

Lisa Larsen - wonderful portraits
Larry Burrows
Robert Capa
Gjon Mili - very creative
Steve McCurry

Check out New York Times staff photographer Damon Winter (who, incidentally, won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography yesterday) and his coverage of the Obama campaign:

A real fresh eye. His other work is quite inspirational too.

I've started to look at it and it's looks very cool... BTW, for xmas I got a book called "The Rise of Barack Obama" which is a photo essay by Pete Souza. You should check it out.

Thanks Amy. I've got Pete's book. Great stuff. It's interesting to compare it with his book on Reagan when he was his photographer also.

I very much admire the work of the late Bob Carlos Clarke

and also appreciate Matt Stuart's sense of humor.

Stuart is great, I agree. Also Gilden, both Flash and older stuff (Coney Island, ..), Martine Franck for Portraits, Nachtwey as a Journalist, W. E. Smith despite his unworldly self-perception and maybe Robert Frank, which could be temporary though, since I just fell in love with Kerouac and he seems to deliver the matching photographs...

My new favorite photographer (at least for the next few months):
Richard Kalvar - www.magnumphotos.com/richardkalvar
The man has a great eye for the more absurd things in life and his photos are a joy to look at.

One of my less known favorites is Petros Kotzabasis
http://www.flickr.com/photos/pkomo/ . His work is phenominal.

My previous favorite photogs include: HCB, Dosineau, Winogrand, Gilden, Davidson, and Plachy.
