Don't know that I completely agree with the guys quoted, but i like the way you think biomed.
 
I once knew a girl referred to as a "hoover". A very nice friendly girl. Very popular with the boys.

Re: circuit diagrams, I am not arguing none have any artistic significance, or cannot be regarded as artwork, but rather that circuit diagrams as a whole are graphics to me, not artwork. Some may transcend that, but exceptions do not prove the rule.

In any case, I have my own personal definition of what I recognise as art, which I laid out in my first post. I am not here to impress that on others, more to discern others views in that I might widen my own. I do however believe that art (by which I mean artwork) is something can be objectively discerned.

ORCUTT? Is NOTHING sacred?

You tend to get either Jocko's or Far Western fans; having tried the former, there's no contest in my book, but then, I've been to the Far Western several dozen times, and Jocko's once. I lived in Guadalupe for five years... The Hitching Post is a bad joke next to either.

From what I could see (and I checked the reviews in the link), the few bad reviews were from people who don't actually like (or at least order) big steaks. Bigger fools they. Go to a vegetarian joint (chickens count as vegetables in this context).

But still: ORCUTT?

Art is something that has one or more qualities that makes it rise above the regular, the normal, the ordinary.
Please note people confuse fine art with art. It does not have to be a Monet to be art.
 
To me: what = art does not require definition and a quote by someone who said it much more eloquently than I, sums it up for me: Albert Giacometti said: "I no longer work for anything but the sensation I have while working"
 
Okay - this is not my thread, but after careful reading and serious further consideration I have concluded the only REAL Art here is Biomed's friend. We can all go do something else now, no?

A display of talent that is so uncommon will usually be perceived as art (whether it is or not). So, who really knows?

You are correct, good sir - everything I enjoy or value is absolute feces. I am a shallow, simian low-brow neanderthal who has no discernible grasp of art, beauty or proper aesthetic values.

Oh, that I may one day ascend to your rarefied and august level of discernment and artistic connoisseurship... :rolleyes:
