Regardless of what you think about the ACLU, they do fight for your rights as a photographer. There has been a lot of discussions regarding photographers being harassed by cops lately. This link may surprise you as to how broad your real rights to take photos are. I especially like the recommendations as to questions to ask the officer, if you are stopped shooting.

In NYC that are beating the **** out of people with cameras still or motion, anywhere near Wall Street and have been for a few days.

Surrounding women and pepper spraying them, punching, tazing, you name it.

NY city is supposed to be a very liberal place to live, and the local authorities allow these cops to stomp on the rights of it's citizens. The other sad part is where is the local and national news and so called free press? Here on the west coast very little is on or in the news. They did show Michel Moore giving a pep rally to the protesters last night on NBC. I'm am not a Moore fan but this story cuts to the core of how the local / US government and our president preach tolerance and turn their heads when citizens rights are clearly violated. Can we get some brave NY city street photographers to cover these storm trouper cops?
