Your thoughts on Nikkor 50/1.8 AI-S Japanese pancake version

I have a reg'lar (0.6 MFD) version as well as the Japanese and Long Nose versions. I can't say enough about the things I love about the pancakes. NO DISTORTION, VERY flat field, beautiful rendering always. This lens may save a client's butt regarding a shoot I did in St. Louis a few weeks ago.

Briefly, had to shoot a fairly serious band promo pic of a trio in the club they were booked in during afternoon sound check/rehearsal. Drummer quit the next night; may hafta pull shots of the star (about a fifth of the frame on the left side) from the 24mp files; the lens did its part in enabling this possibility.

In the snap you can see the 3 Sonys (didn't want to hafta change lenses when shooting the live stuff in the club at night) & my D800 which was hosting the snub nose 50 at the time. Yes, there's a rangefinder (my IIIg w/Summarit) along for security, pacification and shots for my ownself. That 83mm f/1.9 M42 Takumar was also a star in this shoot, along with the 180mm Nikon AF-D...

Actually, there's a story about lighting and cellphone shots that could be quite instructive, maybe I'll do another post on that aspect.
