Thank you, Freakscene, that's very kind. To be perfectly honest, I did some light post processing in Lightroom after stacking the images in GIMP, mostly to get rid of some magenta cast.

You cannot go far wrong with a 50mm Nikkor, all the flavours are good, even the E Series 50mm, (but that has a plastic body). My favourite of the 50mm Nikkors was the 50mm f2, a great sharp lens and the loss of a couple of stops never bothered me. Enjoy your journey with a 50mm Nikkor they are great lenses.
