Z-1 rangefinder calibration problems, please help!

Hello,
I've been reading your osts for quite a while noe and know that if anyone can help me it's you, guys. Here's my problem: I've cleaned and lubricated my Z-1 and everything seems to work perfectly EXCEPT I can't calibrate the rangefinder. And simple turning the screw near the viewfinder window for infinity and adjusting the rangefinder cam for 1m don't work. I've messed up the optical wedge and when everything is OK horizontally it's way off vertically (and the other way round). I know there's some order in which I should proceed but what is it? The wost is that trying to copy the settings from my other Z-1 I de-calibrated it too! :bang: Anyone knows how to deal with it? Thanks for help

First of all, are you using a "known" lens, something you've used to take good pictures and can trust?

If so, usually what I do is adjust the RF wedge for vertical first and then fiddle with the horizontal. If there's not enough leeway then readjust for vertical.

Another remote possibility is your RF prism block is off. This is usually set at the factory and unless tampered or if the camera experienced a hard knock should be well within spec. To adjust the RF block you have to turn 2 or 4 tiny screws to find the right "tilt". Kinda' complicated to do since the RF cover has to be taken off and the RF wedge installed.

The lens is OK, I mean the same things happens no matter which lens I use (J-8/12/I-22). When I adjusted it vertically and tried to adjust it to 1m, the reading on the lens was before the scale. At this point I tried to turn the rangefinder cam down a bit but it was already in its lowest position and still before the 1m point on the lens...
tomorrow I'll keep working on this
and I hope I can avoid removing the top plate because this is how my problems started🙂

you will probably just have to adjust that sensor behind lens. i did that with my zorki and it works perfectly now
