Hey stompyq,

I am not really sure why it is not offered in the states or at any of the big camera stores. I once saw it at small photo shop on Market Street in San Francisco about 6 years ago and it was around 9 USD a roll but they only had a couple of rolls.

Speaking of money, in India people bargain for a lot of goods and services. I don't really mind it and I've gotton quite used to it living out here in this part of the world, but when I saw these two women in the photo below arguing about the charge for their recent ride, I smiled to myself. They were clearly unhappy at what the rickshaw wallah was trying to charge them.

Michael, thanks for sharing your photos and experience. I really enjoy the colors and composition here. Do you shoot your portraits wide open or close to it and how do you control depth of field so well? I have a 2.4/35 and have a hard time getting the focus right when I do portraits or close-ups like this.

Hello NeonKnight,

Thanks a lot for the message, much appreciated. I think a lot of my portraits are somewhere around the F 1.4-2.8 range but I don't really think about it too much, I will sort of decide on what I want the aperture and the shutter speed to be set at depending on the subject(s) as I am raising the camera to eye level.

I remember trying to photograph this policeman standing in heavy traffic and trying to control something that looked uncontrollable. As I was walking beside him I thought that I wanted a slow shutter speed with hopes of trying to capture some movement or some sense of the chaos that seemed to be everywhere.

I realize that the photo above and the photo below aren't really portraits, but your question got me thinking so I decided to post these. This guy was literally washing his clothes in the sidewalk gutter as people nearby were waiting for buses and going about their daily commute.




This one is pretty wide open



I like how this photo came out

You really do feel the chaos here and it's a good example of how a 35mm lens gives a very natural view.
 
Lots of good photography on this thread. They would be great shots with any lens, even something vintage, but this ZM sure looks nice. Too bad it's so big.

Thanks a lot steveyork, I understand you and I know that many think this lens is big, but I like the way it feels in my hands. The other day I was out shooting with one of my friends, and he had a beautiful Ona leather camera bag and I was thinking about how heavy it is and how I would hate to carry around a bag that heavy. I spoke to my friend about it and he told me that it was like second nature to him, same way I feel about my lens. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot Huss, Bendj and Ferider, I think I got lucky with the light, my model and the location, because I got a lot of good photos from that photo shoot. My swimming pool is an awesome place to take photos, I have a feeling I will be shooting more models in and around my pool soon.

These are wonderful images Michael. I've been following your work on Flickr for awhile now! I'd never even heard of Kodak Pro-Image 200 until I came across your feed. Do you have any tips on exposure with that stock?

Thanks a lot everyXnewXday,

It is actually Kodak Pro Image 100 and from what I understand, it is a film that is produced specifically for S.E. Asia because it can withstand the heat inside film stores that do not have proper refrigerators. Please don't quote me on that, but I am pretty sure that is what I read. It is around 3.50 USD for a roll and I personally really like the look of it. I always expose it at ISO 100, I have never tried to push or pull it.

I think it's called kodak profoto xl 100 in the US. It's not widely available and when it is the price is a lot similar to Ektar 100
