Zeiss 50mm f2 Planar - Pictures and comments

avotius, I agree with you regarding B&W 3d effect :) I expected to see something special from planar on bw shoots but I didn't find anything there, i'm afraid. Plenty of sharpness and contrast, yeah but it contain nothing such as fingerprint which I could find it on summicron. But I have old Elmar 50/3.5 too but unfortunately this has a lot of fungus hehe so I don't know exactly what can this do. I cannot believe that older leitz lenses exhibits more high contrast than planar. Simply your B&w planar shoots look similiar to modern ASPH leica lenses regarding contrast. So I guess that Elmar might reveal more of its strength at B&W comparing to colors and Planar does vice versa. What do you think since you use old style leitz lense ? Of course it depends on everyone's taste after all :D

yeah, I think that color adds a new dimension with this lens, which is good because im in a shoot color mood right now. I want to go back to this one area and shoot another set in color and see how things turn out, that place had a lot of interesting color play that the bw just didnt pick up.

Of course Fuji Reala, Provia 100f, Velvia 100f, and Superia 400 would be my choices to go shoot with here....guess its time to spend more money on film *sigh*

I do however think the old elmar can take nice color pictures but they lack the bite of a modern lens design which for me was a down side. Still I wouldnt sell mine either way.

Shot on M6. Scanned on a flatbed, so it's not that great of a quality as the original.
