Zeiss Biognon wobble
I have just received a Zeiss biogon M 28/f2.8 bought on ebay. Condition is good but there is play on the front of the lens. It has a looseness both radially and vertically which does not seem appropriate for a lens of this class or price. Is this normal - or have I bought a dud to be returned asap?
Results fom the lens are OK, it's just the feel and handling which are wrong

Sorry mate. That is not normal behavior for a Biogon. There is some QC issues to recon with with ZM lenses. Afraid you might have found one. Return and buy another. You will love that 28. Excellent performer.

if it is the rather-often-reported "wobble", it's very easy to fix by tightening the lens group nut (which is actually just a thereaded ring) from the mount side of the lens.

My 28/2.8 has the same thing, and when it got worse searching revealed it is, although not an epidemic, common.

Thanks guys - easy fix when you know how!
The question now is whether to risk a minute drop of LokTike from a needle point to stop it happening again.
I still think the ebay vendor knowingly sold what he though was a faulty lens though. Cavat emptor as they say
