I'm looking at some old Zeiss Contax reloadable film canisters and I would like to know if they are compatible with the other camera brands. Such as, could I use them without modification in my Leica II and IIIc bodies, or are they brand specific?
Thanks

I think they're specific to Zeiss.

Contax cassettes
Contax cassettes are only compatible with Contax family cameras (pre-war all Zeiss Ikon 35 mm cameras and post-war Contax rangefinder, Contaflex and Contarex only). Nikon cassettes look similar but do not interchange with them. Leica cassettes are totally different. Neither one fits the other camera.

also the take-up OEM spools work for Contax/Contaflex/Contarex. But the Keiv spools also fit, but, has nothing to "Grap" the leader, so a small bit of clear shipping tape is needed. The Contax OEM spools "Grab" the leader with tension.
Where did you find re-loadable Contax cassette?
The OEM take-up spools are rare to find, and expensive.

I found these and wanted to use them with my Leicas but I guess not.

What about the Canon cassettes? Are they interchangeable with any of the other brands?

The only "universal" cassette is the Shirley Wellard, made in UK Birmingham. It is adjustable for different cameras, if you can work it out

Shirley Wellards require the rewind spool to go up and down, as with an SLR, because the downward pressure of the spool is what opens/closes the cassette. So they don't work on Leicas, as far as I can tell.

They rely on a hinged/removable back, and the rewind as described I think. This is a more comprehensive explanation, with pictures :
