Zeiss Ikon camera Case?

I bought one with my ZI. The case is nice enough. The leather seems to be good quality, although not as tacky as the leatherette underneath.The other nice thing is that there is a window cut out to see the film canister label on the back. I think but I came to the conclusion though that I'd like a little extra grip on the side of the camera. Which means either getting one of the luigi half cases or doing away with the case in lieu of the grip. Also I got tired of taking it off every time I need to change film. So I don't use it much any more. But otherwise I have no complaints about it.

I have a Luigi on my R-d1 but from the photo the Zeiss case looks like it is a softer leather.

I asked someone who had the ZI case (shown in the "show your ZI" thread) via PM what they thought about it. They were very happy with it.
If I were to get one, I'd probably only use the top piece for storage, but it's nice to have and it is (a bit) cheaper than the Luigi half case. I'm sure the Luigis are of high quality as well, but I think the design of the ZI case lends itself to the cameras looks much better.
I also prefer the screw-in attachment of the ZI case to the strap-snap method with the CV and Luigi ones.

Bought the Luigi full case in black, never use the top half but just love the half case alone. Makes using the camera a positively sensual experience (OK, I know I might be a little weird here). Highly recommended, but skip the expensive full case for the more reasonable half with the deluxe camera strap (nicely protects the strap lugs and has velour or something on a neckpiece for comfort), unless you really want the protection of the top when not using the camera. Top will not close over any lens much larger than the 50 Sonnar, and the hood must be removed to do so. Too much hassle for actual use while shooting IMHO.

Soft and lovely. It works perfectly for me and adds that little bit of extra satisfaction that makes me very glad that I'm taking the ZI rather than any other camera when I'm going out.
I much prefer it to the standard cases for the R3 and M7. In fact, your post has made me conscious of the fact that I don't really like the feel of these two cases. Each creates a slightly unpleasant feeling that I have to overcome in order to use these cameras. Of course I know that I could remove the cases but I only ever take one camera with one lens when I go out, and it's so much safer to use a simple ever-ready case in this situation - I can just rest it on the floor in cafes or put it on the table without worrying that someone is going to spill something on it, and so on.
Just try it and see.

I am using my original ZI case for one year and I am quite content with it: Handling is smooth, I can open or remove the top very quickly and it is not as ugly as it seemed from the pictures I saw at the ZI web site.
I must admit that Luigi's Full Cases look much more beautyful. But for me difference between prices of both cases (€149 vs. €320) was to high.

I now have a M7, but had a ZI last year. Had the orginal case and it has seen heavy use (including climbing). Though the leather is very soft, it looked near new when I sold it. Very good quality, well usabel, absoluteley worth the money.

I've got one when I brought it with my ZI. In terms of materials and build quality it's really good. My comment is on the design of the tripod screw lock.
It's has a built in tripod screw cap at the bottom of the half case, you have to screw it in when you "install" your ZI into the case. But the fact that, i.) it's thick, and looks cheap, ii.) it can't be screwed in securely if you put the ZI with case on the tripod. I tried couples of time my ZI almost fall down from the tripod. This is my worst comment to the case.
And personally, I prefer to shoot without the case. I only use it as storage purpose now. Hope this helps.

It's fine product, just need to aware the problem that I mentioned...as you're a snapshotter, I presume you don't care tripod that much maybe...enjoy.
