Hello,
I'm new here and I think I dug myself into a hole so hoping someone knows the answer.
I have an old Zeiss Ikon Contessa SLK with a very stiff focus and problematic slow speeds. I started to take the lens apart last night and now when I put it back together the aperture doesn't work. There are two metal tabs that rotate around the lens and the distance between them controls the aperture. They appear to fit into the ASA and aperture rings but I didn't notice exactly how when I removed them. I've tried various combinations (and Googled up a storm) but no luck. This is my first camera disassembly so, yea, lesson learned.
I did not take apart the lens itself. I just removed the rings starting at the front and working back toward the body. I was hoping to get at the focus ring but could not get that far. So I put it back together to be sure I could do it (go ahead, chuckle, I deserve it) and that's when I realized the aperture was not working.
Anyone ever take one of these apart? There is obviously some trick to getting the tabs oriented properly and then re-attaching the ASA and aperture rings.
Thanks
Bill
