Hi,

My Zeiss fell lens first on my hardwood floor this week-end and needs some care. As far as I can tell the body seems fine but the lens is not registering properly.

Anyhow, it's my first time owning a camera under warranty! The body was second hand but the lens is from Popflash. Both came with blank warranty cards.

Popflash offered to repair in house for cheaper than Zeiss. I've contacted Hasselblad USA and got an "Away until 09/28" message back. I checked the forum and saw people referring Nippon Camera by the flat iron.

How do I proceed from here? I'd like to take advantage of the warranties since I never had the opportunity before.

Thanks!
m.

I don't think you can use warranty (=free) for this type of repair as the problem was caused by the drop as you stated. Of course that is unless you have some sort of insurance that covers accidental damage, but that is different from using your warranty.

Maybe your home/renter insurance might cover it, but deductible might be too high for this particular case.

So your best bet is to find someone who can provide good repair work at reasonable cost.

Thanks, goes to show I have never dealt with camera warranties! I guess I'll keep it local then, no need to ship thing internationally and risk getting taxed both ways.
