I joined the site a while ago, when becoming a friend of Chris was a requirement to win an M7 with a 50mm Elmar lens. It was all fine (I don't think Chris and I became friends ever) until I started getting pelted with e-mails from some member. It was nightmarish: at a rate of two or three per day for about a month. I replied to the first two, but then I checked the fellow's page and it was a terrible disappointment: his friends were a (rather large) bunch of vapid, vacuous and irreverent (foul-mouthed) "artistes" of dubious abilities, very cheap gossip on Hollywood starlets, dumb comments...

I tried to delete my account but it wasn't possible. Even after deleting my e-mail address from the site, I still got some messages into my Inbox. The whole thing stopped a while ago, but I don't want to risk it again.

That was my experience. Those of you interested in the contest... Good luck and may the best shooter win! :)

Seems pretty ambiguous on the entry details... what constitutes a "street photo"? We all obviously know what street photography is, but what if I took a candid shot on the beach... does that count? Does it actually have to be on the street (obviously not considering the image on the page)... It looks like they don't care if it's digital or film, but they say you can't edit with photoshop... what if people want to convert RAWs?

Anyway, I really wish there was a 28/2 biogon!

I also had bad experiences with Uber. Tons of weird music people wanting to connect. Not my thing. I'll pass. If I buy a lottery ticket at least no one pelts me with weird emails. I'm due.

This post is my 2000th post. So I am creating it just for that purpose only. It is either a milestone or a sign of my needing a serious life. Probably the later.

My experience as well. No thanks. Seems like the whole Uber thing was just an Uber waste of my time.

And the not being able to get out was the real PITA.

woohoo! I say you deserve a Zeiss Ikon for that ;)

Uber? Oh, gee, what a thrill. I'll pass on this one too.

From someone who is only six posts away from 5000, I hereby congratulate you in your achievement. Let it be know that from today on, you'll be greeted as Sir Akiva 2000! :)

In the meanwhile, once I reach 5000 I'll start calling myself Lord Francisco.

Of course, joe is the Super Uber Dude... but that's an entirely different pot.

I wondered when this would pop up on here..
Glad I read about people's experiences of uber.. I was half tempted to sign on just to post an entry.
Seems a bit horrible like myspace.

Uber ? ... Thanks, not again.... :bang:

Let the best shooter win that ZI and be a happy UBER-street shooter :p

I'll put this in the kindest of all terms, there is no way in hell I would join that Uber thing again. I would rather have two kidney stones back to back.

Well, I tried to participate but since I used an old (film) picture, I'm not sure what has been done on it, it's two year old. However, NO photoshop for sure, I haven't never had it.
