Zeiss Ikon's shutter lag?

I bet it would be the same or less than my R3A and lesser than a Leica M7.

Sorry, I don't now either but I believe it's something to not worry about unlike my fetish for sharp lenses.

Frank, you got beat to this question :) What is the lag difference between the R3a and the M7

Should be a couple of nanoseconds, electricity in a conductor travels much faster than nerve impulses and the distance between the shutterbutton and the shutter is much smaller than the distance between a brain and an index finger.

Of course it is :) Good luck with your search for sharp lenses, I have enough of sharp lenses and I'm now looking for a change ;)

Hmmm... I hope Ikon's shutter mechanism can match the speed of electricity. The good news is not all shutter mechanisms are the same, the same manner as not all human have the same brain and index finger :)

Yes, I'm pretty sure a Formula 1 drivers reaction time is shorter than mine :)

Heh, heh ... I don't know any F-1 driver who likes to take pictures, I guess you're safe in such comparision :D

Regit, The Ikon uses the latest electronic Copol shutter plus it has been fine-tuned to Zeiss's specifications and high German standards.
What is the lag difference between the R3a and the M7?
Yes, I can answer this. About $2600 USD.

Thank you for the info... you mentioned that the Ikon's lag should be the same or less than a R3a, does it mean that the R3a is using the "latest electronic Copol shutter plus it has been fine-tuned to Zeiss's specifications and high German standards"?

Regit, seriously the lag is next to nothing on the R3a and as you say it's basically the same shutter, I guess Ziess use different shutter damping and quality control.

I don't have the exact figures (maybe Frank does) but I have tried the R3A and did not notice any lag at all but I was not testing for it. If there was a large lag I'm sure I'd have noticed.

Frank, I was not aware shutter lag gould be measured in USD. I don't understand, please explain?

Bertram, it's so small you don't have to wory about it :)

Sure, Steve, I just tried to find out if somebody ever has found it to be worth the hassle to measure the M7 "lag", you know ? And obviously this must have happened once, otherwise regit could not ask for the ZI value to compare ;)

I didn't measure it, but Puts puts it at 12ms. Thank you all for the comments. I understand that for all intended purposes, the lag is not noticable, but I'm trying to put together a report that details the specifications of in-production SLR and RF, hence I'm asking for the figures. If anyone has that figure, I'm still interested to know.

I don't know about these cameras shutter lag, but I bet that Socke was onto something with that it should be a couple of nanoseconds, electricity in a conductor travels much faster than nerve impulses and the distance between the shutter-button and the shutter is much smaller than the distance between a brain and an index finger. Socke is German, by the way, so I heed his Zeiss logic.

Write to Carl Zeiss AG directly. They would know better than any of us.

Thank you for the suggestion, Mike. I actually want to call the local distributor for the information but it is Sunday and I was hoping the people here would know... I'll give them a ring tomorrow.
