Hello,
I'm an enthusiast of the Contax/Kiev rangefinder system and I cultivate my hobby using a Contax II and 2 Kiev cameras, outfitted with a good series of lenses, both Zeiss and Jupiter.
I consider the Jupiter 3 50/1,5 as excellent (at least the piece I own and use), but some years ago I've acquired a Carl Zeiss Jena 50/1,5 and now I understand why so many people are excited when using it.
My piece is chromed brass mounted and its serial number is 2520013, with the red "T" indicating that it is of the coated lenses type; the serial number 520013 is also impressed on the rear lens mount.
I've read that this is a rare piece, not being a DDR lens (being the latter aluminum-mounted).
Does anyone know how many pieces of this type were produced?
Thank you in advance and best wishes,
Elmar Lang
