Is there a lens in LTM that I could remove the old glass and be able to "drop-in" the Zeiss glass? Thanks

I believe it's the FSU sonnar knock off, the J-3. Search this forum and I think you'll see a number of threads in which this surgery gets discussed.
Would be easier just to get a Contax to Leica (LTM or M) adapter. For more info google Orion, Kindai, or Amedeo adapter.
The J3 derives from the pre-war East German Sonnar, with interchangeable parts. I think the later West German post-war Opton Sonnar is a different beast. Perhaps some Nikon and/or Canon LTM parts could be used in fabricating a barrel for the Opton glass... Adapter sounds better.

Unfortunately Mr.Sweeney is not at RFF anymore, he would have known.
I recall from what I've read that it's not as easy to hack an Opton Sonnar as it is with a Jena Sonnar (without the shimming that should take only a few minutes).
An adapter would be possibly the easiest solution.

Going by my experience, the Opton Sonnar cells do not fit any of the Jena (and by extension, FSU) Contax mount barrels - and the same will go for the (cell compatible) LTM Jupiter barrels.
