Zeiss OVF with m4/3

Maybe i can re-phrase the question to be broader.
Does anyone use Zeiss OVF with small digital camera? Are there other recommended solution?

I should state that the reason I am interested in the OVF is because i feel that EVF has a lag that sometime is frustrating.

Using an OVF intended for a 3x2 format on a 4x3 camera would frustrate me. At least it did when I tried it. (I assume you mean an optical viewfinder intended for a 35mm camera.)

Anybody every try using the Zeiss OVF with an m4/3 body? I have been lusting over the Zeiss 25/28mm viewfinder.

I use Voigtländer OVFs with both the Ricoh GXR-M and Leica X2. Much less expensive than either Zeiss or Leica OVFs, and more compact. The 35mm model is a perfect match for the GXR-M with 28mm lens fitted; the 28mm works better for me with the X2 than the 35mm. I have the Voigtländer 21/25 mm for use with the Leica CL, M4-2 and M9 if I fit the 21mm lens too.

EVFs work great with longer lenses and subjects that are a little more static, but with wide lenses and fast subjects, nothing is as good as an optical viewfinder, so far.

I use the Zeiss 25/28 finder with a Panasonic GF2 and 14 lesns. The OVF is really for my 25 Biogon, but it works fine on the GF2. I always shoot the GF2 in 3:2 ration anyway as I don't like 4:3, but it could be an irritant if you used the native aspect ratio.

The finder is great, but cost more than I paid for the new gf2 and 14. I've also got 40 and 90 Voigtlander finders for the 20 and 45 lenses. They are equally efficient in this application, if not quite as beautiful as the Zeiss!

Thanks everyone for responding.

Chris, I realize that and I am ok to change the digi cam to 3x2 format to match the OVF.

Godfrey, that's exactly what my thinking is for wide angle view. Not having seen both side by side, i am not sure how much bigger is the Zeiss OVF. How is CV VF with glasses? Also, do you notice a lot of distortion?

Mike, thanks for sharing your experience. How do you find the accuracy of the OVF vs what the camera sensor sees? Also, do you find the VF to be overwhelmingly big? Maybe a shot of the camera with the Zeiss...

- The Zeiss is about a third again larger in size compared to the Voigtländer.

- I find that nearly all optical viewfinders narrow the marked FoV by some amount with glasses on, a 21mm fits a 25mm FoV a little more accurately for me, a 28mm works for 35mm similarly, etc. This varies a lot on your particular glasses prescription and frames, of course.

- I don't notice much distortion, but then I'm not very sensitive to it. I notice most rapidly the kind of optical distortion which can give me a headache: the Voigtländer does not. :)
