Zeiss should make a mechanical body

I think the electronic shutter would be far more reliable than a mechanical one. Those units have been developed over many many years and have proven reliability. If zeiss had to design a new system with shutter cocking and release it would have cost more to make.
Mind you contax made the S2 as one their last cameras.
Did you mean Yashica?

I think they should make a $100 digital ZI just because I said so... 😉

$100 is too much for any digital camera... 😉 You can buy two great XAs with that... 😀 And use one for direct sun B&W and the other one for soft light B&W, and avoid menus and computers... 😛 Then 90% of the time is used for photography, and not the contrary... 😱

Cheers,

Juan

I cannot accept ZI because it cannot function without batteries.

But the rest of the ZI sounds really good.

Why don't ZI offer a mechanical equivalent. Like Leica MP, or Bessa M series.

I'm with you here...no need for electronics which will die with age (and not very long age!). Unfortunately, everyone today believes electronics are "good" so there is such a tiny market for mechanical cameras. I love mechanical cameras such as the Leica IIIF but know that companies will never make a camera again without any electronics!
