Zeiss Sonnar LTM

Intriguing isn't it. I would say it is not a genuine wartime Zeiss LTM mount as they did not have an infinity lock. My latest thought:
1. The very first part of the mount is Summitar, including the infinity lock, which is different on the Canon mount shown
2. The next bit that has the two knurled rings and a nice taper is Canon 50/1.5
3. The final bit that has the aperture ring is genuine Zeiss Sonnar from the late 50's.
Didn't Brian Sweeney make some adaptations like this a couple of years ago?

A couple things to add to the discussion:

- At least the center section looks to be aluminum alloy, not chromed brass. I can't say for sure obviously, but look closely at the taper at the top of that section. It's possible the whole lens is, which would eliminate a lot of possibilities.

- The numbering font is not consistent with Canon, or any Japanese lens I've encountered. Further, Japanese lenses use a "." to separate decimals, while this lens follows the European convention of using a ",".

- It has dual aperture scales on opposite sides of the nose, indicating the optical block rotates during focusing. Further, the aperture marks are evenly spaced, unlike those of the Jupiter-3.

I don't know a wide enough array of lenses well enough to render a guess as to what it is, but I don't think there's a Canon part anywhere in that.

It might very well be a prewar Sonnar in a genuine LTM mount.

No it is definitely not. The optics, name ring, black front nose and aperture ring are 100% from a late postwar Sonnar made in Oberkochen, West-Germany.

Whatever origin the barrel is, the problem is, that the postwar optics assembly doesn't screw in the barrel like the prewar one does.

To make it more clear : if you have a prewar Sonnar in Contax mount, you can screw its optics assembly into an LTM barrel. If you have a postwar Sonnar in Contax mount, you cannot do this. The postwar Sonnar uses a retaining ring at its back, like the Nikkor standard lenses in Nikon S mount do.

So I would highly suspect that the optics assembly have been glued in the barrel, or heavily modified so that they can fit.

In any case I would stay away from this forgery.
