Just want to check my understanding that the Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 lens does not do hybrid AF on the A6000. Is that correct?
And, is there any insight about an update which will give hybrid AF on that lens?
Reason for asking: I like the image quality with this lens, but the AF is distinctly slower and less reliable than the Sony/Zeiss lenses (24mm and 55mm) on by A6000. Further, in my experience the Touit suffers AF hunting on the NEX-5N, giving unreliable focus.

I also have this lens. I bought the 12/32 pair at the discounted price. I have the 35 f2.8 fe. I have the Nex 5n (alway hated the Nex ui), a6000 and a7. I have the a6000 set for hybrid af. It will focus twice as fast w/ the 35f2.8 compared to the 32. 32 is About the same speed as my 30f2.8 Sigma.
Right now I am not sure if issue is related to af motors being used or not being allowed to make use of phase detect feature of the a6000 or a7.
So far I have not found any reference to any fw update that could help here.
The toit is a tad sharper overall then either of the other lenses I have. But for my purpose, overall iq is good enough between anyone of the three lenses that for what I shoot it does not matter. My main reason for having this lens if the f1.8.
Never tried it on the 5n. Works fine on the a7 and a6000, but af is slow and noisy.

Forgot to mention, since I own an a7.. I plan to wait for price drops on the FE lenses instead like the 55f1.8 fe and 16-35f4 fe.

Yes, that is correct. I wouldn't hold my breath for ay fw update. If you like the FL and want better AF, take a look at the Sony 35/1.8 and get OSS as a bonus.
Since you own the Zeiss 55/1.8 - are you planning to go FF? In that case take a look at the 35/2.8.
Or just live with it.... Sorry, it is just the way it is.

Thanks @Addy101. That's what I thought.
@GaryLH, the 55 f/1.8 is a fabulous lens. I also have the Sony 50 f/1.8, which is not a bad lens, but the Sony/Zeiss 55 is outstanding. I use it for portraits on the A6000 and 5N.

Thanks...
The way I c it --> apsc is the sweet spot in terms of price performance. I plan to be very limited in my FE lens purchases. The 55f1.8 is definitely on my list.
My current A7 could be the only ff I will get. If makes a great universal back for all my legacy lenses. I actually don't mind the 11-12mp apsc mode and using the e mount lenses on it, but the a6000 is really pretty nice. The apsc art lens line from Sigma (19, 30, and 60) make a very good basic 3 lens set if u are ok w/ f2.8. I currently only have the 30. If it were not for the 55f1.8, I would consider the 60f2.8 instead.

If I was getting full-frame E-mount, I would get the Zeiss 55/1.8. Until then the 50/1.8 is a nice lens.

Here's news: Zeiss is updating firmware on three Touit Lenses:
- my 32mm f/1.8... Finally!
- 12mm
- 50mm macro
The 12 and 32 get Phase Detection AF and Hybrid AF. That's what I've been seeking.
The 50 Macro already has hybrid AF. The update for this lens is described as "bug fixing."

Astounded! Touit 32mm Back in One Week!
Astounded! Touit 32mm Back in One Week!
Well...
I went to the Zeiss site, printed the form, sent off the lens for the update. That was smooth and clear.
I'm astounded. One week later, I have the updated lens back in my hands!
Quick PD/Hybrid AF (the dancing little squares). It's great.
Up to now, I was down on this lens because of the poor AF performance. I feel like a new lease on life for this lens. Thank you, Zeiss.
