Zenza Bronica EC - the thing from outer space!

Wow, this is a heavy, big, awesome beast!

My brother in law has lent me his Bronica EC for a quick roll.... and with the hope that I'll fall in love with it and buy it off him 🙄

Problem is, I don't see myself lugging this monster around too often, though it feels just great in my hands. I guess I'll just shoot my roll and play around with it a bit and then give it back to him.

I have often wondered about MF cameras and wanted to try one (well yes, this is the chance), but the Bronica is just too huge and heavy. Heavier and bigger than a Hasselblad I think, and as well as a Rolleiflex.

Anyways, he wants 300€ for it...... it's working very well and is quite clean apart from some dustspecks on the screen. Comes with the Nikkor 75mm 2.8

What do you think of the camera and the deal (Always considering that cameras, like all other things, are a bit more expensive here in Europe - darn taxes)?

That's a not great but quite decent price for an EC in excellent condition, which is not easy to find these day 😉 It is heavy but I for some reason enjoy shooting mine more than the Hassy and Rolleiflex.

You can get EC TL with that price, my 2 cents.

The lens are good ( no question about that ) , they tend to be noisy ( if that matters) ,
build quality is typically Japanese ( really good) and there's no way you won't draw a crowd
if you're seen in public with one, that's another way of saying people tend to smile if you ask to take their picture,and that's a pleasant icebreaker. Peter

The price is good in my opinion. As suggested a Hasselblad alone will be lighter (add a couple of lenses, the difference will be much less significant, though), but also a lot more expensive. Bronicas, especially the more recent ones, make very good cameras for trying medium format. Once you have shot you first 100 rolls, you will know if you need to buy a more expensive one.
