Zoom or primes for X-e series ? ?

Just finding I’m using my fixed lens cams more Joe. My X100F, X70, Sigma DP2 & DP3 & Ricoh GR. Although I do use the 21mm adapter on X70 when I need a wider option. My photography is generally street / travel and anything that takes my fancy. I’ve not used tele lenses for years, though I have used ultra wide but generally whatever camera I’m carrying tends to meet my needs.
I’m now left with the Xe2 & 35/2 combo which has barely seen much action.
If I want interchangeable options I still have my RD1 though even the lenses I have for that only give me 23mm - 75mm focal lengths.

I used the 18-55 on my XE2 on a recent trip. They worked fine together, at for me. Gave great results. I am however a prime user mainly. I recently bought the X100F and will use that as my main camera and will put my XE2 and 35/2 up for sale. I don’t really need interchangeable options any more.

Just looking at your signature, I'm thinking you already have more than enough cameras for every occasion, so I can see why you might want to consolidate. Makes perfect sense.

It seems like everyone that has the 18-55 likes it. I just bought a new XE1 body to mainly use Nikon primes but will probably pickup a zoom for vacations when I want go with only one lens and body.

Anyone use the 18-135? My wife has a Nikkor 18-140 that's just a great range for travel. Any comments would be appreciated. I'm expecting the body to arrive Tuesday and can't wait.

I was recently at a workshop and a woman had the 18-135 (which is of course a 28-200) and I thought how convenient it would be, but ultimately decided that since I rarely shoot long lenses, the size and weight mitigated against it. I only have two lenses for my XE2/XT2: the 10-24 and the 18-55.

My brother has an 18-55 that I'm going to try but want a little more reach if I can keep weight and size within reason. Vacationing I really want to carry only a minimum of gear. One body, one lens, extra battery or two an charger.

I find even the 23mm f/2 front heavy on the X-E3. It feels much better on the X-Pro1.

I would never use a zoom or even a larger prime on the X-E3, cause I would have to use my left hand support the lens.

The 55-200 is a nice sharp zoom...

I have both the f2 smaller primes and the larger faster primes and they all work fine on thext20 and the xe3 bodies. The xt20 has a grip on itand that aids the positive feel quite a bit...i hope to get a third party grip for the xe3 also but none available so far.

We both found that on an all day excursion the 18-135 gets a mite heavy. She has the XT2 and I was using the XPro1 while in Greece and Italy, both of us were happy to leave the zooms at the hotel and used the 18 and the 35. I wish I had brought another wide, the 35 didn't take in all I saw.
