Hey!
I recieved in the mail today a Zorki 1 (appears to be a model E) that I ordered about a month ago (such FAST shipping from the FSU). It appears to be working fine, will probably run a roll through it in the coming week.
If the camera turns out to be a keeper, I'd like to customize it a little. The leather covering isn't horrible, but I want to replace it with something nicer. Aki Asahi makes coverings for the Zorki 1, but I'd be interested in something a little more... bold.
I also notice that the knobs are a little loose, and the shutter speeds aren't alligned with the mark. The RF window is a little dim as well. Would you guys know where to send the camera to get CLA'd in north america?
Thanks in advnace!

I have a Zorki "C" that I paid $25 for at a camera show some years back. It was DOA. Yuri at Fedka did a CLA on the camera and its Industar 22 lens for about sixty dollars if my memory is correct. He did a good job and the camera is a good one now.

If it has got a leather body covering then a previous owner has had the same idea. It originally was Vulcanite.

Yuri at http://www.fedka.com/catalog/ is in the USA or there is Oleg in Russia, it's not that far away http://www.okvintagecamera.com/
Aki Asahi has some nice colours or are you looking for something really weird? Aki Asahi might be able to cut it for you if you supply the material, worth asking. You could always ask Morgan at Camera Leather he might be able to do a one off if you send the camera to him or supply the material so you can send it to Aki Asahi for cutting.

His repair page has nothing on it so it might be a good idea to e-mail him

while I'm at it which model Zorki do you have as Aki Ashi only makes coverings for specific models.

I have a Zorki 1E, or... at least it appears to be an E. I did a little research on it before... it seems like the E and the D are pretty much the same aside from the shutter speed dial, which shows a 1/50 and 1/25 instead of 1/60 and 1/20.
Thanks for all the info brian!

They're pretty cool cameras
I owned a iic before I moved onto M. It's been about two years since I've had my hands on a LTM leica. I figured I'd get myself a zorki for fun
It's not quite the Barnack Leica experience I remember, but it's also not quite the Barnack Leica price I paid
Now to see if I should get it painted black... haha
