The early Zorkis are like Fed 1 or Leica Barnacks and only have an outer thread, this thread normally covered by a knurdled shirt surrounding the release.
The Leica chassis had a change in size between IIIb and IIIc (I think) and they have incompatibility with accessory problem, the Fed 1 and Zorki 1 are not too compatible with Leica IIs, the shutter release surround will swap (in early Zorkis), baseplates no, cassettes no, etc. A Zorki II cassette won't fit in a Zorki 1, early Feds have difficulty with commercial cassettes, a IIIc can have difficulty with commercial cassettes.
The M is a different beast entirely.
Compatibility is not good.
if you have a Zorki with a fed style release you can get an adopter, few dollars, to take a normal cable release, but they are a bit like the empire states building. The soft release would screw into this, empire states with martian flying saucer parked on top...
