Same here and it hasn't been a problem at all.
Thanks!
Now i wonder if i can get a quieter shutter for my Zorki... i'd like to have the sound of the FED-2, but maybe it's just impossible...

I'm not sure how you'd do that. Perhaps someone else on the FSU forum with experience maintaining Zorkis would have an idea about how to do something like this.

Maybe the shutter curtains are over-tensioned? Sounds like a CLA operation to me... Info is plentiful on this site as how to CLA your camera. My Zorki 1 is quieter than my Fed-2... I CLA'd it myself.

There's variation between examples of all of them, don't worry too much. My Zorki 1 is the queitest FSU I have (just to make you jealous!) but I have stripped, cleaned and re-lubed it to the last screw. I found I could reduce the curtain tension quite a bit afterwards, which surely must be part of the equation. By the way, the FED 2 I have is definitely the loudest of my bunch, so you have the opposite results!

I've checked the shutter and i've noticed that the first curtain is pretty slow compared to the second one, probably a CLA will definitely solve my problems...

My Zorki-1 is my quietest FSU camera. It's the shutter curtain tension. But if the camera is full of dried-out grease, it won't work with low tension and would need cleaning first...

BTW: My FED-2s are quiet.

The first curtain should be a little snappier than the second, not the other way around. If you press & release on "B" it should make a sort of "clip-clop" sound.

After I gave mine a thorough CLA it only needed 3 turns on the first curtain tension and 2 on the second, which is a bit low but it works fine. Before CLA it had about 5 and 3.

I second that. 3 and 2 is good. Sometimes 3.5 and 2.5.

Ok, since my zorki-1 needs a complete CLA, maybe i can merge the two projects... well, yes:

CLA + Black paint

And in the end, i think a Black Zorki-1 would be very nice

Do a search on Zorkikat's postings, he did a thread recently on how to de-chrome one and paint it. I'd really suggest you get someone with a spraygun to paint it, you will never get a good finish otherwise...good luck, it should look nice
