I just purchased a Zorki 1 from a seller in the former Soviet Union, serial number 585444, does anyone know what particular Zorki 1 model this serial number would make it?

Being a noobian myself, I can only offer what little info I've gathered on the subject the past few weeks... According to this site http://home.att.net/~wayne.cornell/camera/zorki12list.html your Zorki would not be of the 1 series, but some later series.
BUT, as serial numbers and years of manufacture may not correlate, we need more info on the details of the camera: shutter speeds, top plate construction. If you keep on surfing on the site from that link, you may run across something that matches your camera.
More experienced users may divine the model of your camera by just looking at the serial no. but not me.

Then again, it might be a Zorki S.

Serial number is on back, not top, it appears to have 3 screws holding the topplate on the back, the Zorki script is on the topplate only in cerilic script, not in English, top speed of 1/500.

Sounds like a 1B, but the serial no seems wrong if the 58 in the serial no refers to year of manufacture - it should be pre 56 for a 1B (I think).
It will be interesting to see if it has a release button collar, "ears" on the cold shoe, and a "soft" body - if it does, then it is almost certainly a 1B.

I have looked at several sites online, and after having compared photos with the ones I received from the vendor, I am beginning to suspect it is a 1d, I was originally mistaken, there are only 2 screws on the back of the camera, making it a later model.

I have a Zorki 1D and it fits your description exactly. I believe that you have a 1D, which is a very reliable version of the Zorki. I've had no problems at all with mine and it is always a real pleasure to use. You'll enjoy your camera once it arrives.

My Id is 57xxxx, a 56xxxx is probably too high for 1c.
They normally need tender loving care, just like a Leica... but the lens is comparable with an Elmar if it has survived the years.
