It is like T , for time on a Leica LTM camera.
the shutter remains open when the shutter button is pressed.

This usually called for use of a cable release. Many cameras of the day had both "time" and "bulb" settings. The difference is: with "time" you pressed once to open the shutter, then again to close it; with "bulb" you held the release, and the shutter stayed open as long as you held it. Essentially, two ways to do about the same thing. The setting called "time" seems to have pretty well disappeared, but "bulb" is still very much around.
As for the Z-3, it's sort of my favorite of the Zorkis, since it most resembles the Leica IIIs. However, it is commonly said that those slow speeds don't work any too well anymore. One can always have a CLA done, but that may cost you more than the camera did to begin with.
When I got my first Z-1 (I have two), I was really surprised at how compact it is. Never having owned an LTM Leica, it was sort of a revelation. My only Leica is an M4-2.
