Hi all
I just came into a Zorki/Industar combo and am running my first roll through. I'm finding that when I focus on something less than 3 metres away, the object aligns about where the focus ring says it is.

However, everything from 3 metres to infinity always seems to align at the 3 metre mark on the focus ring. I haven't finished the roll yet, so ...

Does this sound like a lens issue or a camera issue?
Thanks in advance
David

What about infinity - that is were you start when looking at a focussing problem. If you set the lens at its infinity mark, does your rangefinder lineup. If not, your rangefinder should be calibrated.

When I set it to infinity and focus on something 2 or 3 blocks away, I have to dial it back to 3 metres to get it in focus. At infinity nothing is in focus.

So this sounds like RF is out of whack?

Yes it does. The mechanism is fairly simple, but it sounds like something has come undone in the linkage. I think you need to take the top off and have a look.

Cheers,
Dez

if only horizontal is out, you don't need to remove the top with a zorki 4, You can take off the screw near the viewfinder window at the front. Set the lens at infinity and take a little screwdriver that fits into the hole. Turn the screwdriver until your rangefinder matches with the infinity setting.

Probably not if it is out by that much. It's worth a try- maybe someone who didn't know what he was doing had the camera apart and messed up the RF, but the amount of adjustment is rather limited.

Cheers,
Dez

I'll give that a try.

When it arrived after, two months, it was wrapped in it's soft leather case, butcher paper and twine. Who knows what it went through on that journey
