Zorki 4,j12 and helios vf

Hey Michael,

Sorry I can't give you a difinitive answer... I think that the amount of compensation will depend on how close your subject is. If I'm thinking right (it has been a long day!) you would want to frame slightly lower if your main subject is within a few (<3) meters... That said, I haven't used the Helios finder, but I did originally use a similar aux finder (from a Yashica Electro tele/wide set) & my J-12 with success.

Hope that helps somewhat!

Regards,

Peter

The compensation distance at the top of the frame is the distance between the view finder and the lens axis. This is independent of the distance to the subject. That is you need an imaginary say 3" ruler hung down from the top of the photo frame in your minds eye, the top of this ruler is at the top of the viewfinder image. This is only effective if you can do the 'rangefinding' in your head but at 1metre should be easier, you need to think about the geometry rather then read my disluxic English, there will be an eeeeeek moment.
