One of my Zorki 4's has a problem in that when I focus at infinity the two images don't merge, the focus lever inside the camera has to move back 13 thousands of a inch in order for the two to merge.
Is there a adjustment that can be made to correct this with out having to disassemble the camera.
I have put tape totaling a thickness of 13 thousands on the edge of the lever that rides on the lens and that gives me the correct mergeing of the the images at infinity.
Thanks for any help.

Made the adjustment this AM, took lest then 2 mins. and now everything is as it should be, thanks again for your help.
I have 2 4's and looking to purchase more ( 4K, 5 and 6 ), really like these Zorki's, using them more than my Fuji digital or my other SLR's.
Thanks again

All right, where do I adjust the VERTICAL image at? I assume there's a different place for that to be done?

Remember how you didn't want to disassemble the camera for the horizontal adjustment?
To adjust the vertical alignment, you have to rotate the round lens/prism that comprises the small front rangefinder window. Once you remove the top, the little rectangular rangefinder becomes round. There are tiny slots on it to allow the rotation. It may require some cleaning and unsticking, because many of these cameras had their original settings shellaced in place. remove or soften the shellac with Ethyl alcohol.

*sigh* I figured someone would say that.
Is it just me, or does it not make a lot of sense for the designers of this camera to allow easy access to adjust the horizontal RF, but make you practically disassemble the camera to adjust the vertical? *sigh again*
Project for another night. Is there a site anywhere that has some pics that could help along?

hey, they're only Zorkis
Here's a thread by ChrisN here at RFF detailing vertical adj. Pretty good pics.

Would Ronsonol work as well as Ethyl Alcohol at loosening the shellac?

It's all part of the fun.

How does the rewind knob come off? According to Rick Olsen's drawing, it should just lift off after the set screw is removed, but mine is still on tight. I've looked around, but there's only one screw. Am I missing something, or is it jammed on there?

AH-HA!!!! G-Man, what would I do without you!!!

OK, question #2:
Olsen's drawing mentions loosening the set screw on the sync dial before lifting the cover. What set screw is he talking about, because I can't find one? There must be one there or somewhere, cause something is stopping the cover from coming off.

Do you mean the "0" in 1000? Is your sync dial set on M or X?

No wonder I'm confused! My sync dial is different from yours! I don't have the numbers on mine, just and M & an X. It rotates around, but only between the two letters. Damned if I can find a set screw, either!

Nope. Only numbering on the dial are the shutter speeds. The M & X are engraved and that's it.

The synch dial was changed and the later models only have the X and M for flash settings with X being the same as 0 on earlier models. I have no idea if they moved the screw or where they might have moved it to.

There is a hole where you'd logically insert a screwdriver to remove a screw. However, nowhere along the length that the dial will travel is there a set screw. There is a small point where it won't go, however.

Hmmm.... Time to hit Google, I guess! Thanks for all your help. I figure it out, I'll let ya know.l

I got my wife to look at it when she got home and I think we mighted it out. It's not good news, either.
There IS a screw in the slot, but it appears that the head has either broken off or has been chipped away. Either way, I can't get it out without a tiny drill and I'm not going to all that trouble. I can live with an RF that's slightly out of alignment.
