Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm new to rangefinders. I recently acquired a Zorki-4 and I'm still trying to figure out the shutter speed select on it.

The situation now is that the shutter fires at the speed indicated before firing. But during cocking, the indicator does not turn a full 360 degrees so it often is between two speed after cocking. I can rotate the dial relatively (i.e. if I started at 1000 before cocking, moving one "click" counterclockwise seemingly gets me to 500), but again I do not have the benefit seeing precisely what speed I am on. Has anyone else run into this issue?

You just need to always remember to set your shutterspeed after you cock the shutter. I figure the problem which isn't really a problem, just how these camera's are, is due to spring tension at release of the shutter. Welcome to the forum.
Cheers, gb

Yeah, it's not a problem per se, but just a bit annoying. It still would be good to resolve it. From what I've read on Zorkis so far, the one thing I've learned to always cock then adjust shutter.

If the dial doesn't point to the speed you've set (after cocking) then you can adjust the dial easily enough. Cock the shutter, set it to a known speed (e.g. "B") then slacken the two tiny screws in the rim of the dial (jewellers screwdriver needed!). Now turn the dial so it points to the correct speed and re-tighten the screws. Job done!

That seems like the simplest and easiest solution. Can't believe it didn't enter my mind. Thank you all for your feedback.
