Hi

Im currently CLA'ing my Zorki using the guide on the forum. Ive got to the part where i need to re-install the slow speed mechanism, but it doesnt look anything like the pictures. I turn the shutter speed dial clockwise to the last notch (it says 1/1000, but isnt this bulb?), wind the mechanism (so that the small protrusion on the ring shaped gear is next to the triangular part of the frame) then reinstall the mechanism. The gears unwind a little, but it doent look like the picture, the small protrusion on the ring gear catches against the shutter speed dial like it should at low speeds. Then when i try to cock the shutter, the slow speed mechanism starts to wind, should this happen? Also, the small cam on the underside of the slow speed mechanism doesnt seem to contact with anything, should it move the silver lever behind the shutter speed dial?

Thanks in advance

Rob

Looking at the mecahism more closely, the pin on the ring gear seems to fall roughly next to the triangluar part, shouldnt it fall at around 9oclock? have a messed up the springs or soemthing? :S

Take a look where the cam sits and you'll see a very tiny, spring-loaded lever. Winding the mechanism as it says will position the cam correctly so that it doesn't foul the lever. It really should be about where the triangular piece is. Have a closer look...and let me know if you're still stuck!

The last notch is actually 1/30th (my mistake) but what really matters is that it's NOT set on a slow-speed: that means it can be anywhere from 1/125 - B.

thanks for the help, that seems to have mostly fixed it, it also seemed that the plate holding the grars was bent slightly downwards.

It works fine at all speeds except 1 second now. On the one sec speed, it fires fin the first time, but then when the shutter is recocked, it fires for a small amount of time, like a fast speed, but the sloww speed mech still moves as normal. If i move to 1/2 a sec then back to one sec it works fine. What could be causing this?

Also the film advance seems off a bit, i need to crank 1 and a bit times, is this because i lined the gear under the advance lever up wrong?

Thanks

Rob

hey

i seem to have solved the issue, the problem with the 1 sec speed was because the right hand screw holding the slow speed mechanism needed to be loosened and the whole thing moving slightly forward.

Working perfectly now.

Thanks for the help :)
