Zorki 6 flash question

Duncan:

Are you trying to connect a flash or access them for repair?

Have they been pushed in? Normally they are right there below the rewind knob. They are little plug-like contacts that are inserted from inside the top. Usually they are screwed in from inside.

I'm just getting everything muddled up today. First the putty/porridge confusion and now I'm doing it again. I need to get at the flash contacts that close as the shutter passes. The actual connectors on the camera body are fine!

You have to remove the 4 screws holding the chrome baseplate and you'll see the contacts beneath. I've had an issue also with my Zorki 6 flash contact and might be able to help you fix it, just give more details. BTW, be careful because there are 1 or 2 spacers underneath that might fall off and get lost.

Ooooh! Putty/Porridge?

The contact is a little spring that touches a protuberance on a wheel that spins as the shutter curtain unwinds. it's almost underneath the take-up spool.

Well the flash contacts are working but I wanted to see if I could adjust their timing a fraction by a bit of careful bending or repositioning. The x-sync contact seems to be slightly late and I also wanted to see what actually triggered the m-sync contact. I'm hoping that the m-sync isn't the full 20ms early and if it is can I 'laten' it a bit!

I'm not sure if the flash delay can be adjusted on the Z5/6 since it has no slow speeds but according to the Maizenberg book the tiny disc should be attached with the "dot" at 3 o'clock position [oriented towards the triod socket/film spool]. When I got my first Z6 the electronic flash socket didn't work but bulb was fine and the "dot" was almost at 4 o'clock after adjusting it worked.

Hope this helps!
