A while ago I spoiled my zorki 6 by tightening the collar on the winder too tight. It's a left hand thread which I tightened when trying to remove it, stripped a couple of teeth of a gear.
After a period trying to get the thing off, I eventually took a saw to it and cut off the collar, winder surround and half the post. A Zenit donated it's winding gear and things were looking up...until I worked out that the ratchet stop on the gear train might have been damaged in the removal attempts. It certainly doesn't work like it should. The thing is, it could have moved and ....now that I look at it, I can't see how it works, it seems to work the wrong way.
The little tag is the end of a strip which is under cog Y. When wound on the cog Y turns CCW and pushes the tag into the gear X, locking it. When the winder is released, the tag moves away from gear X, releasing it, allowing it to 'unwind' between winds.
Anyone got the top off a zorki 5 or 6 who can see where this thing bites?
I've replaced these cogs, could the tag be from the other side of cog X?
I would call upon the Zenit, but the ratchet is quite different.
