Zuiko 135/f3.5

Can I take for granted that this lens is a good option for general use,and is as excellent as the other Zuiko lenses?

I have enjoyed this focal length a lot in the past,and now with four grandaughters under six some head and shoulder pictures would be good.🙂

I don't want to spend a lot so the shorter telephotos are out,and I assume that with some searching, this model would be available at a reasonable cost.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

PS.I almost forgot,another grandchild expected this month🙂 ,by all accounts this should be a little boy,but you never can tell.

The 135/3.5 is one of the better Zuikos, IMO. Very sharp, and tiny.

I use the 135/2.8 more often though since you get noticably more shallow
DOF for portraits. Also not too expensive on the used market.

Scott, I have two of the 3.5 Zuiko 135's. Excellent lenses, very small, built in lens hood. I also have the 85mm f2 and the 100mm f2.8. I think the 100 f2.8 is a little sharper and easier to use for portraits as it focuses closer than the 135. I got my 100 for $60 on ebay. The 135 may be even less though and it is still an excellent lens.

Thanks for the information. I just got an OM2 (back to the future for me) and have an OM2s on the way. Now I'm on the lookout for some medium teles.
 
$60USD for a 100/2.8 is a very good deal. That said, the 135/3.5 is one of the best bargains on the market. Very sharp from all accounts, and small/easy to use. Having both is never a bad idea. 😀
 
Thanks everyone for taking the time to advise---these are pretty consistent and ringing endorsements for this lens and the 100.
I will be checking out the local camera shops to see if maybe one is laying on their used equipment shelf.

Called in to the local camera shop on the weekend.Unfortunately they couldn't find me a Zuiko 135,but found two Zuiko 75--150 zooms on the shelf.Pretty neat and compact they were too.Undoubtedly larger than a 135 would be,and probably not as sharp etc.,but more versatile.
More expensive too.Left them there,---it's 'thinking about it' time.

Anyone had any time with one of thesel little works of art.🙂

This thread on Zuiko 135s got me interested. I checked out the KEH website and if you don't mind sending some Sterling currency over here to the Colonies, that Atlanta store has a DEAL on them!

Actually, according to some tests (http://members.aol.com/olympusom/lenstests/default.htm), the 75-150 is as good or better than the 135 f/3.5. It is only about an inch and a half longer (same diameter). A very nice lens!
