I don't know how old this trick already is, I myself find it extremely useful. I know its not beautiful, but hey its a user, and it works very well.

So here goes: Tie a cable tier around your focusing ring firmly, if you can not get it to stop moving, take it off, make it smaller by one notch and put it back on. Finally I can "feel-focus" aswell :)

?? I like focusing tabs and have improvised a couple of my own. But I don't undestand your explanation.
What is a "cable tier" ...maybe you could post a better picture that shows it? Thanks

Ahh, ok.
I prefer one of these:

on top of one of those thick rubber bands used to hold the stalks of broccoli together in the grocery store. Gives you a little more to hold on to.

Also Leicagoodies has a gizmo called a "steer". Works well - I have it on my x-pan lens.

Cable ties are dirt cheap, available everywhere and won't mar the finish of your lens. I had one on my Summilux 50 and it worked a treat. ;)

I did the same for my 50 'cron but used 2 ties slipped together so that the "lumps" were about a finger width apart and my finger can "nest" in between. With this arrangement, my finger doesn't have to jump across the lump for focussing back and forth.

Hah! That's the perfect suggestion!

Especially since I just recently lost the focusing nub on my CV 28 Ultron. That damned thing just fell off one night while I was out shooting and I had no idea until I reached to focus and was like "what... why cant I feel the focusing nub..." and realized, "oh crap... it unscrewed and fell out".

Heh, $20 bucks to replace a focusing nub? No thanks.

I'll just put a cable tie on it. Thanks for the idea guys. Sounds great! :)

on FSU lens I'd drill a hole and screw in a screw with suitable head, but those Leica and Zeiss lenses are rather pricey... :D

Tried it a long time ago on my 35/1.7 Ultron; didn't like it. I find it a poor substitute for either a proper finger-grip or even the Zeiss 'nub'.

But it doesn't cost much to find out if you like it or not.

Cheers,

R.

That sounds good. I've tried but the ties don't stay together since the "lump" is in the way. How did you get them to fit together?
