Thank you All. Jeff, I am stuck now with Diafine and will be for some time.

Starting tomorrow morning I am out for 2 days in North Israel with 3 color rolls ISO 100 and 3 TriX's and my wife + Bessa R.

I will post some new stuff while back from the excursion

Good night to All

Lazar:

Enjoy your trip and be safe! I look forward to seeing your posts!

Jeff

BillP
excellent series, the first is the best IMHO, classic composition and well seen.

Todd:

I really like this shot. I've always admired your work, and you just keep getting better. I like gritty tonality in the shot. How did you achieve it?

I'm going to jump in here this week...

Bertram2,
Awesome were you shooting at 1/2 sec? good motion, it seems they are ghosts

Todd

Todd,
perfectly guessed, yes 1/2 sec. Which is a bit too long because fast moving objects close to the lens can vanish almost completely. 1/4 turned out to be better in most cases.

It's been the beginning of my experimental LAME series ;) (Long And Multiple Exposures), when I noticed I had to learn a lot about long exposure times.

If you have a lot of DOF the way objects blur depends on the distance, which can give you a result you did not have in your mind.

I later added multiple exposure to the long shutter time , which offers a rich choice of effects. I did that with an AF SLR tho, O.T: here I suppose.

I got some more of those Bessa versions anyway, more next Friday.

Regards,
bertram

Just a glance, while you passed by. Shot from the hip. I like this one: Bief + dynamic , urban. Tho you see the mans face (which must be visible in "Street" IMHO) there is nothing indiscrete.
Your second one takes up the same style, well thought , works !:)

mccurley,
the third shot works, the human element gives it a grand sense of scale. I like the light in the first as well.

Bertram2,
thanks for the explanation...a few of these kind of images would make a cool presentation.

thanks for the comments,
Todd

thanks for your comments on my photo everyone! your thoughts and reactions are valuable to me. now here are some of mine...

Todd.Hanz: great shot. nothing particular more to add. it works. the grain and the motion only enhance it.

Rick Waldroup: the photo feels cluttered to me. too many little visual pieces without any clear subject.

Mike Da Re: these two people may be interesting subjects (i assume you they were interesting enough to compel you to take their photo) but the viewer can't see that because their backs are turned. it's hard to get a good photo of someone's back, unless perhaps there's a particularly compelling composition that they're in, but this is just an average sidewalk scene.

lZr: it's a good setting for a photo but it would be better utilized with a compelling individual coming toward the camera. there's nothing here to keep my interest.

nightfly: the exposure looks quite nice but essentially this is a picture of another (large) picture. why did it grab your attention?

Aziz: closer would be better for your photos here, i think. or a different composition / crop. your subjects are interesting enough but i don't think the images are doing them justice.

Bertram: very cool idea. i'd like to see this with a more prominent subject though.

wray: first image... love the colors but not the composition but too much empty space. second image... much better, but it suffers a bit from the feeling that it's slightly posed.

BillP: i like that first image (classic storefront, relateable human experience/activity, your hidden reflection... "hello!") but the other two don't work as well for me... probably because i didn't see a clear relation between the individuals and the background and then the background was distracting me.

mccurleyphoto: the last image has some potential but it doesn't quite get there. i'd say you need to be closer. the first two images didn't have any people, or even signs of people, so i'd be hard-pressed to consider them street photograhy.

JeffGreene: the composition is pretty good but the subject is not all that memorable.

Anupam Basu: great photo. your subjects fill the frame perfectly and you waited for the right moment to take the shot. i looked it up on flickr to see what lens you were using - good use of the 21mm.

NB23: your image isn't displaying for me.

Some great images in this thread. I especially like the first ones by Todd, Lazar, and BillP, and the shots by Bertram and Anupam Basu.

OK, here's mine. Fire away.

I want to thank everyone who commented on my photo. It is great to get critiques from other street shooters.

Nightfly, I really like that last shot. Apparently it is at some type of art museum? I like how the people are walking around the art piece, but what really interest me are the two fellows in front. They look so out of place. They look almost like twins- even down to the same suit they are wearing. It adds an air of mystery to the shot. And then finally, the lady on the left, with her white top against the dark background. I really like this shot. Very nice.

Thanks Rick.

Last summer there was a Richard Serra installation at the MOMA in Manhattan where that was shot. You can't really see it in the web version but the sign at the bottom of photo says "Please Do Not Touch" which I thought was funny as the one guy in the foreground is reaching out to touch the other guy as he appears to be walking away.

Ned...fess up bro, you paid that guy to jump;).

I find myself wishing you waited 1/2 sec more to get the water covering the legs of the walkers by, great shadow by the way.

dingadingdang...nice, seems a little static though, but nice.
