hmm, i think, then, given that, a 2,8 and 1,4 35mm combination is the bees knees...in fact, it is what i use, and gives me all the speed and compactness i want in that wonderful focal length. as i write, i realize i have the same for the 50 focal length as well.
Why would you need two 35mm lenses? Isn't the 1.4 the ultimate?

I cant beleive im going to say this but I might be on board for one. Today was out shooting with my Planar 50 and 35 PII and when I got the results back I was a little disapointed with the 35. The colors are so demanding like cheap wine and lack sparkle and definition, the Planar of course is quite possibly the worlds best modern 50mm lens. Having a 35 that is up to par with it sounds good to me. The Biogon f2 is a though, duno though, a compact 35 might be nice, not to mention it will be half the price new of a 35 asph cron used.
hm.....

CZ has my attention with this lens. In the RF realm, I prefer small, 35mm, or both.
I have three Summicron 35's on the shelf because the Summaron is more fun, and I also use an Elmar 50 and 90. Speed is overrated, and the attendant weight gets old fast. I'm eager to see how the CZ 35/2.8 ZM renders.

I sold my Biogon 35mm f2 a couple of months ago and had planned on getting the CV 35mm f1.4 classic, but now this! I have the Biogon 21mm f4.5 C and it's one of my most used and loved lens on my M8 and I anticipate that this 35mm f2.8 will be as good as that one. So I will wait a little more for my 35mm, what is availability - May ?

Absolutely. I think shooters who shoot wide open on fast lenses all the time wonder how the rest manage at f5.6-11 for most of their and teh converse is true also! I agree about size too. I am going to put together a super small kit over time precisely for those times when speed is not so important. However, CV still leads the way in this regard and it would be nice to have Zeiss predicatable image quality (no dencetering. sofy corners etc) with some super compact lenses, the first of which was teh ZM21 4.5 and now the 35. I would love them tp produce a collapsible 75 2.8 or rival for the 90 f4 macro elmar as a collapsible (does not need to have macro ability)....a tiny 50mm would be nice too....
However, when you get beyond the super wide CVs which tend to have irregular image quality from sample to sample, esp in corners, the CV 35s seem almost universally good. There is a heck of a lot to be said for the pancake II at $329 and IQ that according to two very good tests I have seen is as close as dammit to the Cron asph in overall terms, albeit for the loss of some speed. Might be my next lens. However, CV need to introduce a new slow 50mm in M mount!
