Just a teasing follow up from Pretty Cameras [ should it be Pretty Awful Cameras ? ]

With the shadow of ASD , Kievs surround and ground me , just seeing a Kiev near helps with the chaos .

On a lighter note - which is your Comfort Camera ?

My Yashica GSN. I use my Nikons for serious 35mm work and my Mamiya Press for Medium Format. When I'm just with family or not doing anything serious, I like my Yashica. It's always in my car with me, or when I go for a walk. A real comfort that I have a camera on my shoulder.

I guess I would have to call my MP my "comfort camera". But my M3 comes in at a close second. My Canon DSLRs are used more for paid jobs, unless I'm asked specifically to work in film. But yes, it's a Leica that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. 😛

My 1959 Minolta Autocord. Half the vulcanite is chipped off, the black paint is mostly gone, but the lens looks like new and I got the wind and the shutter working again. I'm glad that I got it a couple years back for about $5 and I wish that I'd gotten it working sooner. It made me start digging through my files for the forty to fifty year old negatives from my last Autocord.

A Pentax MX. I had one all through college and when I worked at a newspaper. It was stolen from my desk at a former job. I missed it so much I bought another one last year. I shoot mostly digital now but that's the one that brings back the emotions.

It's a toss-up between my F1N and Leica IIIc, I really like the feel of these cameras in hand and use, for different reasons. Now-a-days, I carry the Leica more often because of the weight and feel of the lenses but the camera I've carried most often has been a F1 of one sort or another, for the better part of thirty years so, in some ways, it's more of a companion than a tool.

My 1930 Leic 1a ... it has something special which is probaly to do with it's connections to the origins of 35mm photography. I very seldom put a roll of film through it, in fact last time I did it broke but Youxin was able to fix it!

It must be due for another outing. 🙂

Nikon F2A with working meter and the micro-nikkor 55/2.8 attached. If I just want to go for a walk up in the hills away from the 'city life', I almost always take this combination with me. Its basic comfort... like a favorite pair of re-soled old shoes.
