View from a Lunatic Asylum

Very nice pictures.

Ever see the movie Session 9? It was filmed in an old institution in Danvers, MA. Creepy setting for a creepy movie.

We all have a niche that we like photographing.............mine is old Hospitals and Asylums.........I could show some right freaky ones.........but alas they were taken on digital

Digital or not - don't hold back! I'd love to see more of this kind of thing :D it makes a refreshing change!

Thanks everyone glad you liked them..........you never know how a bit of UE is going to be received

OK, I''ll ask: What is UE? Urban Entropy? Sounds reasonable. I usually think Urban Decay, but hey, I'm on the other side of the pond.

Nice stuff. It reminds me of a lot of the post-Katrina photography that was happening here in New Orleans.

Ok yes UE is Urbex or Urban Exploration..........the M4 is my first rangefinder and film camera what a revelation it is to use..........so Dave is correct this set are the only film ones I have but if you guys want to see some more and dont mind DSLR here you go........just holla and I'll post some more........

That`s bleak stuff. I wonder when it was built. Guess it fell into disuse after the "care in the community "initiative came in.Got allot of that in Reading ? I thought it was IT central for the south.

Referred to by David Cochrane as "the eleventh and the last great asylum built for London's insane" West Park Asylum sits derelict between Epsom and Horton. built by William C Clifford Smith between 1912 and 1921 the asylum is of the Villa Design with an impressive admin block at the front and two storey wards coming off the sides in an almost symmetrical way one side female and one side male. At one time the Asylum housed 2045 patients.

The Site became completely closed apart from a small section at the rear in 2003 after around 5 years of running down.

Not too far from Redaing...........but Fairmile Lunatic Asylum is even closer ;)

Simply great stuff! Congrats!
.....there's a site in the states for dead malls( deadmalls.com) some of them with photos.
Perhaps someone will make somthing similar for relinquished hospitals....On the other side it would be a pity to hide such great photos on a specialized site!

The hoover race is interesting. kind of completely surealistic.

Michael "Hoover Racing" is a shot that always intrgues whoever looks at it, obviously setup by someone but not me..........one of my favourites and one along with "Blue Room" (you cant miss it above) that is going on exhibition next month at a show being put together by Fitzrovia Noir in Chelsea, London.
