Hi all,

I've got a Canon P with a faulty 1-second and B setting. The curtain lags a bit in clearing the lens when 1-second is released, and as for B, the curtain doesn't work at all. All other speeds work fine.

I've gotten a camera repaired by Gerry at Kindermann before, and can attest to his workmanship and personal touch-- he dropped the camera off to me personally in Oshawa, where I live. Great guy.

But, I don't really need his service, as I think it would be far too costly considering the type of camera as well as the service desired-- fix those shutter speeds!

Do you know of any cheap repairperson who can do a CLA on this camera? I can handle the horizontal and vertical alignments myself... just the speeds need going over.

Thanks!

Thanks guys,

I already contacted David but no response yet. I'm thinking of taking it to one of those Church St. pawn shops and seeing what one of them can do about it-- I know a couple provide repair services.

In the past I would have suggested Kominek's but they're no longer around.

You may get a better response if you try calling David Yau.

I would try to steer clear of the pawn shops on Church, but that's just me :) You may get some help via Downtown Camera (Stan or Dave may know) or even Eight Elm camera; although they're mainly Leica.

Cheers,
Dave

Mr. Fung has been looking after my Nikon SLRs and rangefinders for the last ten or so years, but he works on all the various brands. He's vey good, very reasonable and gives fast turnaround.
