And now I've got two OM bodies, four lenses, two small rangefinders, a refrigerator full of Tri-X, several jugs of chemicals, a couple of reels and two rolls of film hanging in the shower to dry.

FrankS, I think you're going to love the OM4, just from my limited experience with the OM1 and OM2, and the great things I've read about the OM4's metering system. I'm through buying gear for a long time, but hope to have one eventually. Looking forward to hearing about your experience with it. Keep us posted.

I just want to mention that 2 days ago I just realized that I had a 35/2.8 zuiko all along. Now I can't do anything but to give it a roll, see how does it compare to its faster sibling, the 35/2.

That's a great price you got your OM-4 for, Frank. Wonder what the lens will turn out like. I would consider it to be a freebie with your camera body.

i will certainly report on the om4 once it arrives. i already have an f2.8 and an f3.5 zuiko 28mm, so the tokina 28 lens that comes with the om4 will go to the local high school photography program along with some other gear.

This thread is evil. I while back I told you of the OM-2n I got for free. It had a stuck diaphragm transfer ring in the mount that prevented free movement. I had it fixed by Frank Timmann in Germany who replaced it with a metal ring. Frank also cla'd the camera and it's now unbelievably quiet and smooth. As I said, this thread is evil, you triggered me in finding some matching gear and I now have in addition to the 50 1.8, a 28 2.8, a 100 2.8 (awesome lens!), a databack, a winder, and a T32 flash and hot shoe. Here's a pic of the camera:

quick question: is there a spot on the winder 1 to store the camera's drive cover? if so where is it?

There's none in the winder I got. Just a little nitpick, but I feel that Canon (FD) thought about that better. Their winders have special clamps to store the cover. My cover is hanging around in one of the drawers with photo stuff, but I'd have to do an extensive search if I would want to use the camera without the winder.

You are correct in choosing to never ever sell your OM gear. Trust me, you'll regret it. I'm also just getting back into it right now!
As to the drive cover storage... Looking at the photo above, it's in the right edge. You slide it in with the claws up. A lot of used winders that are bought already have a long forgotten one in there!

There are four different Olympus OM accessories that we all generically call "winders". There's Motor Drive 1 and Motor Drive 2, and Winder1 and winder 2.
If it's an actual Olympus winder/drive, there are storage slots. The winders have the slot on the base end, and I think the motor drives store them in the handle area, near the top.

The only thing I want for my OM-2N is a some kind of half case with a bump on the right side to make the camera easier to hold.
This talk of the OM-4(T/Ti) and its metering system has got me checking prices on those things, too. I've never used a spot meter but I'm not that happy with my exposures these days.
I take it that all models of the OM-4T and OM-4Ti have the upgraded circuits, while an OM-4 may or may not have the upgrade??

Quite right. Almost all of my zuiko lenses are group acquisitions, so unless it stood out as one of the 'elite', I forget about it.
